They can be purchased in the Railway Station itself up untill the time of departure. Tickets can also be bought on board the train. This, however, will mean paying the maximum price for your ticket. When purchasing your train ticket you have a variety of options to consider.

Types Of Rail Tickets

You have to decide whether you wish to book a single ticket or a return ticket. The cost of a return ticket is not always cheaper than two single tickets, due to different rail companies operating in a variety of regions. Before you travel make sure you check the best price, and always specify your return date to get the cheapest ticket. Once you have decided upon your date of travel you then have the option to choose Off Peak or On Peak rail tickets. On Peak tickets are for travel before 09:30 and after 18:30. As a rule of thumb you should be looking to book the tickets for your journey at least 8 weeks in advance to get the cheapest train tickets.
